Get his new album: The Brag and Cuss

rocky

I was a huge fan of his last release Makers, it has an amazing folk sound, stripped down to mostly his guitar and harmonica, and the guy can just write. I don’t know if The Brag and Cuss tops Makers but it’s a tough call.

The guy is simply an amazing songwriter. It took me a few times through the album to get past the superficiality of it, past all the new instrumentation that he acquired for this album. But after loving even that, I began to hear his words. And beautiful they are. I would encourage you to pick this one up.

Alright all you Wes Anderson fans out there. Here is the next installment. The trailer looks pretty. I did notice however that he’s using an almost identical color palette to the one he used in Life Aquatic. Interesting.

The new addition to the Akron Museum of Art underscores how hard it can be to strike a balance between daring architecture and enjoyable spaces for viewing art.

Junk Camera Soldier

Junk Camera Soldier:

Here’s a different take on the war: Junk Camera Soldier — Hrad Kuzyk — shot black and white film in various, well, junk cameras, while deployed to Iraq for 16 months. I found a short collection of the work currently featured on the homepage of toycamera.com, and a much larger collection at pbase. It’s downright weird and haunting stuff.

There is a great gallery to accompany the article for this library showcase. The interior has a very different feel than what you see here, quite exciting. Article link:
